Meet the 75g Si:zen Santal: Bigger, Longer-Lasting, Still Bicarb-Free

When we sold out of our first 45g deodorant, I'll be honest: it was equal parts exciting and stressful. Exciting because it told us the product worked for real people. Stressful because so many of you were waiting for it to come back.

It's back now, and it's bigger. Meet the 75g Si:zen Santal.

What's new

Two things have changed: the size and the scent.

The size. The new 75g is a bigger stick, so you're reaching for a refill far less often. With daily use, it lasts around five to six months, which works out at roughly $5 to $6 a month. That was a big reason we wanted to go bigger. A daily essential shouldn't be something you have to think about every few weeks.

The scent. We've launched with one scent for now: Santal, a warm sandalwood. It's subtle and unisex, so it sits quietly in the background rather than announcing itself across the room. We chose to start with one scent and do it well, rather than launching a long list of options. That's very much how we think about the whole brand: fewer, better products.

What hasn't changed

Everything you came to trust about the original is still here. This took me around five years to develop, with a focus group of 15 people and eight samples before we had a first product I was proud of. I wasn't willing to change a formula that had taken that long to get right.

So the 75g is still:

  • Aluminium-free and bicarb-free. Bicarbonate of soda is a common cause of underarm irritation in natural deodorants, so we left it out entirely.
  • Made for sensitive skin. It's designed to give long-lasting odour protection without irritation.
  • Australian-made. Developed and made here at home.
  • Simple. Ingredients chosen with care and explained clearly, so you know what you're putting on your body.

How it works

Si:zen is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. That means it doesn't block sweat, which is your body doing what it's supposed to do. Instead, magnesium hydroxide neutralises the odour-causing bacteria while you sweat naturally. Vitamin E, sunflower oil and beeswax help soothe and protect sensitive underarms.

If you'd like the full ingredient story, we've broken down every ingredient in our full ingredient breakdown. And if you're curious why we skip bicarb, read our bicarb vs. bicarb-free guide.

How to use it

One or two swipes per underarm is all you need. A little goes a long way, which is part of why the 75g lasts so long.

If you're switching from an aluminium-based antiperspirant, give yourself a little grace. Most people adjust within one to two weeks as the body rebalances. If you have particularly sensitive skin, it's worth doing a patch test first, and we've written a step-by-step guide to patch testing a natural deodorant.

A note on packaging

We've always tried to be upfront about this: our original 45g launched in cardboard, and we moved to a more durable material after hearing that it softened in bags, cars and warmer conditions. We're still exploring compostable options for the future, and we'll keep you posted as we grow. You can read the full story in our FAQs.
